After Brian Williams demonstrated such a poor understanding of basic math, officials from the Sanders campaign called NBC News and immediately extended a handsome offer.
“I must have him,” Bernie told The Glorious American. “But because we’re in the middle of the campaign we only have $110,000 remaining for staff. So I offered him $640,000, which was a bargain for us and more than his 5 million NBC salary. Brian and I both agreed it was a fair offer and we couldn’t be more thrilled he’s joining our movement.”
Williams is ecstatic to join Bernie’s campaign but also showed a sadness for leaving his long-time TV anchoring career. He released the following statement on Twitter:
“I’ve been doing TV for nearly 15 years. It’s crazy to think that when you add up how long that is, it’s over 2.4 million nights. Over the years, I’ve covered 11 administrations, 3 World Wars, and the stock market crash, which lost over 88 trillion in mere hours. If you do TV long enough, people notice how smart you are. And that happened with Bernie Sanders. His mind took notice of my brain and when you combine those 3 things you get magic.”
