While speaking with NBC News’ Lester Holt, presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg raised eyebrows when he brazenly said, “People always talk about the money I’m spending on this race, but I have other attributes that no one’s talking about. For example, my staff tells me my smile alone can win 42 states.”
Precisely as Bloomberg was making that comment, Lester Holt took a big drink of water and then, upon hearing his remark, abruptly spit it out all over the place.
“What?!” a defensive Bloomberg yelled. “Lots of people tell me I have a charming smile! And not just my staff–my mom says so. The whole gang at the Bloomberg editorial board! In fact, talk is cheap. I’ll prove it,” the billionaire said as he sat forward in his chair.
With a great deal of focus, Bloomberg looked directly into Lester Holt’s eyes and slowly unveiled his world-class smile.
“Oh… it’s… astounding,” Holt nervously said covering his eyes with his clipboard.
“YOU’RE NOT LOOKING, LESTER! YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT MY SMILE SO YOU CAN REPORT THIS TO THE WORLD!” Bloomberg pleaded.
After a struggle and a great deal of negotiation, Holt accepted a check for $22 million and agreed to say Michael Bloomberg had a charming smile.
