It was recently announced that the NBA players would be allowed to replace the name on their jersey with a political message. The rules for which phrase would be allowed were simple. First, all of the corporations that pay the NBA must approve of the message. Secondly, it would need to be cleared by the Chinese government.
So it was no surprise that LeBron James selected perhaps the most moving and profound message to share with the world on the back of his jersey.
“After much deep reflection and meditation, I have chosen to display a powerful message,” James told the media. “And obviously, the message is that McDonald’s has brought back its popular two-for-$5 promotion. Up to ten delicious menu items such as the Filet-O-Fish, ten-piece Chicken McNuggets and Egg McMuffin are all eligible, you guys.”
James was asked if that was all he wanted to say in these racially sensitive times.
“Of course not! I’ve got more to say,” James snapped. “I just want to also make sure all basketball fans out there understand that this is a limited time offer and participating locations may vary.”
