In a report that’s sure to anger many, a male concession worker earned roughly 18% more than female players during Sunday’s World Cup.
Blake Simmons, an American visiting France for the summer, decided to make a quick buck by working the concessions for the Woman’s World Cup.
Blake’s generous paycheck only added fuel to the gender pay gap controversy.
“It’s not as simple as just saying the World Cup ladies should earn as much as Blake,” said a spokesman from the USA Soccer Federation. “We were charging so much for lemonade, Blake simply brought in more revenue than the ladies.”
“This is an outrage and if Blake will loan us money for legal fees, we plan to sue,” said Forward, Megan Rapinoe.
