As Attendance Drops, WNBA Forced To Hire Snipers To Operate T-Shirt Cannon

It’s no secret the WNBA struggles to fill arenas throughout the country. The league often finds themselves in embarrassing situations, such as falling into massive debt and having to ask fathers in the crowd if they wouldn’t mind refereeing the game.

Early this week more embarrassing news leaked. The Glorious American has learned that a dozen WNBA teams were forced to hire ex-military snipers to operate the t-shirt cannon.

“We had to,” WNBA Commissioner, Cathy Engelbert explained. “The person who was firing the t-shirt randomly into the stands was later being asked to go find the shirt after the game. It was creating a lot of busy work for us. Hiring the expert snipers to find the 3 or 4 people per game is far more efficient.”

While the WNBA is trying to spin the news as a Veterans work program, many are using it to further mock the league.

“It just gets more and more pathetic!” Emily Thompson wrote on twitter linking the story. To which the official @WNBA account replied: “Hey! You think you can play ball as well as these brave women??”

UPDATE: Originally, it was assumed the @WNBA tweet was scolding Emily but it has been learned they were sincerely asking Emily if she could play as the Minnesota Lynx are in desperate need of a small forward.
