CBS News Admits 'Mistake' After Airing Footage Of Independence Day Film

CBS News admitted to a “mistake” on Monday after airing footage from 20th Century Fox’s Independence Day in their attempt to depict a White House in turmoil.

“As you can plainly see, all is not well in the Trump White House,” said the voiceover as CBS showed footage of aliens blowing up the iconic building.  “It’s heartbreaking to show you, but this is what happens when you elect an outsider,” the report concluded.

The following day, President Trump addressed the error.  “Yesterday was a real beaut for CBS.  I’m watching in the west wing and… I see them show the White House explode in big, blue flames,” he whispered.  “I turned to Pence and said, ‘how much you wanna bet this is fake news?’”

CBS has sort of admitted the mistake with the following statement:

“While we do acknowledge the editing error, it’s also important to remember we are the press.  We can do no wrong. And no one’s allowed to criticize our bravery.  We’re so brave, we make the Navy Seals look like shift managers at Build-a-Bear.”
