CNN’s Jim Acosta may have gone too far on Monday’s coronavirus press briefing. Desperate to get Donald Trump in a gotcha-question, he asked “Sir, you claim you don’t want all Americans to die in a bloody pool of … well, their own blood,” Acosta began.
“Common, out with it, Jimmy,” Trump snapped in frustration.
“Well, Mr. President,” Acosta continued. “Many Americans are wondering why you’ve not taken any steps to protect our precious healthcare workers. Why haven’t you considered shutting down all our hospitals?”
Even Trump was taken aback with the question but soon gathered himself.
“Ya, know. That type of question is why everyone at CNN is divorced and their parents have filed a lawsuit against them,” Trump chided.
“BUT MR. PRESID—,” Acosta tried to interject. But Trump was on a roll.
“No, let me finish. Why don’t I shut down the hospitals?” a disgusted Trump asked. “It’s questions like that which explains why CNN journalists aren’t eligible to donate blood.”
Update: Dr. Fauci has endorsed the idea of shutting down hospitals.
